Impact of Admission Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbAlc) on Patients with Acute STEMI Undergoing Primary PCI
Background: HbAlc reflects longer-term glycemic control and having the edge to be less influenced by acute stress. Several studies demonstrated the prognostic role of HbAlc in elective PCIand acute MI patients treated with thrombolytic therapy. However, the impact of HbAlc level on prognosis in STEMI patients successfully treated with primary PCI has not been explicitly examined. Purpose: We as...
متن کاملMortality pattern and cause of death in a long-term follow-up of patients with STEMI treated with primary PCI
OBJECTIVE We aimed to assess the pattern of mortality and cause of death in a cohort of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODS Consecutive patients with STEMI treated with primary PCI during 2006-2013 were evaluated with a mean follow-up of 3.5 years (1-8.4 years). We used hospital and general pra...
متن کاملRelationship between the duration of ischemia and final infarct size in STEMI patients treated with abciximab and primary PCI
We studied 89 patients with first time myocardial infarction and treated with primary PCI. There was only a weak correlation between ischemia duration and final myocardial scar size measured with ceMRI six weeks later. Other factors like anterior infarction, a patent artery pre-PCI and effects of reperfusion injury may have had greater influence on infarct size than time-totreatment per se.
متن کاملAngiographic and Clinical Impact of Successful Manual Thrombus Aspiration in Diabetic Patients Undergoing Primary PCI
Background. Diabetes mellitus is associated with worse angiographic and clinical outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Aim. To investigate the impact of manual thrombus aspiration on in-stent restenosis (ISR) and clinical outcome in patients treated by bare-metal stent (BMS) implantation for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods. 100 diabetic patients we...
متن کاملNew guidelines on primary PCI for patients with STEMI: changing insights
The 2013 recommendation was Class III (Harm), indicating that PCI should not be performed in a non-infarct artery at the time of primary PCI in patients with STEMI who are haemodynamically stable (Level of Evidence B). The new recommendation of 2015 is now Class IIb, demonstrating that PCI of a non-infarct artery may be considered in selected patients with STEMI and multi-vessel disease who are...
